Fab Five Fridays
Minnie Mouse came up with a great little discussion group...And I think I will let her be in charge of this one...Fab Five Fridays would discuss a question provided to the forum on Mondays and contemplated through the week. Each Monday, Minnie will post a question on this thread and we will contemplate it then join her at 10:00 pm on Friday nights to discuss your answer....
The first Fab Five Friday question : What Five People, living or dead, would you like to meet and why? Think of your answers and why (and meeting the cast of TB is great, but also have others) and be prepared to discuss them.
If you come up with a great fab five friday question, send them to Minnie and she will pick the topic and put it up every Monday....

My Five:
I would love to chat with Charlaine Harris and ask her "WTF Charlaine?"
No, seriously, I would like to talk to:
Anne Frank and see how she feels about her Diary being such an important document both historically and literary-wise.
Gerald Gardner, the father of modern Witchcraft, and ask him how he feels about the modern witchcraft movement.
William Shakespeare and ask him how he feels about the plays and movie versions that have been made of his work.
Bram Stoker to ask him how he feels about the various versions of his book and what he thinks of the way modern Vampires are being portrayed.
And Stephen Moyer, and just to thank him for being my TV BF when I needed him the most and ask him what supernatural creature he would want to play next...

Re: Fab Five Fridays
I could only come up with three people I would want to meet.
My grandmother on my dads side. She passed away when I was a 1yr old. They were driving out from IL to Idaho, and she passed away in WY.
My great-grandfather Gustaf Johnson. He left Sweden when he was 14 and sailed to Australian. He came to America through San Francisco and settled in Lemont,IL. I would like to hear about his adventures he had while coming to America. Plus, I want to hear him speak Swedish.
Of course I would want to meet Alexander Skarsgård. I want to ask him questions about growing up in Sweden. I'm always curious about the differences between the American and Swedish cultures.

Re: Fab Five Fridays
I think I would like to meet WInston Churchill and I would ask him if he thought at anytime we might lose the war... I suppose that is rather British thing though....
I would like to have met John Lennon, my fave Beatle, and ask him did he really think he was fooling anyone with his explanation for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds...love the song, think you pulling my wank over the explanation mate.....
Jesus Christ and ask Him if any of us are getting it right ( I suspect we aren't)
Bela Lugosi and ask him how he likes the way vampires are being played in cinema and how much freer the actors are now compared to the constraints he acted vampire under....
I would like to meet Max Schreck, the bloke who played Nosferatu and find out if he knew about the legends about him and that some people say he was a real vampire....

Re: Fab Five Fridays
Hmmmn, 5 huh?
OK, my dad and step mother. Both gone now for years. I appreciate the chit chat and all, but tell me what is really important to you and tell me about you and family. Tell me more. Show me how much like you I am and let me tell you how very much I love you both and how thankful I am for all you have given me.
My mama. Gone 3 years now. I miss you Ma. Not a day goes by I don't think of you and I am so sorry I didnt do better. You were right on a lot of things. Oh and by the way? How the hell did it ever work out that you would be gone and I would become my mother?
The hubby's paternal grandfather. Some say he was a Brujo, but I don't think so. I do think that he had alot of knowledge tho and he was smart about how he did things. He knew plants and herbs and animals well. I would love to have known him and say let me sit at your knee and teach me. Tell me the stories and show me what you know. He was a different sort of survivor.
I would love to really sit with God/Goddess and ask WHY? Why everything. And how!! Yes, anyone can do that, but I really would like a full answer and not an enigma to lifes answers. I don't want to be all powerful, but I would like a much greater understanding and to be a better person. I want to know lifes answers.
My younger self. Oh boy! Did you really think life was going to turn out this way? It's not all bad, but honestly, there are a few things you might really wanna rethink. Can we call for a do over in certain things or areas? :)
Yeah, kinda deep and pretty personal, but if I really had a choice of 5, those would be it.

Re: Fab Five Fridays
My list is very eclectic, but it makes sense to me at least.
1. I'd like to have a conversation with the Dalai Lama and discuss issues and solutions for modern society. I would like for him to explain to me the injustices in the world and what role, if any, reincarnation plays.
2. I'd like to have conversations with Albert Einstein and Carl Sagan to discuss the universe and our place in it. Though they were not geneticists, I'd also like to know if they have any thoughts on the origin of Rh negative blood, since scientists have yet to identify it, and some theories offer unearthly explanations. (I have O-negative blood.)
3. I'd like to talk to Jesus/God and ask if the above three were right. Like Barrister, I'd like to know if we got it right, and I'd like to know about other "principalities."
4. I'd like to talk to my deceased biological father. I'd like for him to tell me if he ever knew about me. My biological mother didn't think so.
5. On a less serious note, of course I'd like to have a conversation (really) with Alexander Skarsgard. I think he would be a fun person to know.

Re: Fab Five Fridays
5. Running to Stand Still- U2
"She runs through the streets, eyes painted red, under a black belly of clouds in the rain...." This song is so beautifully executed and so plaintively sung and it reminds me of my step daughter Amber.
4. Hold On- Sarah McLaughlin
"Oh God if you’re out there won’t you hear me
I know that we’ve never talked before
Oh God the man I love is leaving
Won’t you take him when he comes to your door
Am I in heaven here or am I in hell
At the crossroads I am standing
So now you’re sleeping peaceful
I lie awake and pray
That you’ll be strong tomorrow and we’ll
See another day and we will praise it
And love the light that brings a smile
Across your face..."
This song reminds me of Jimmy and his final days....
3. Knights in White Satin- Moody Blues
"Nights in white satin, never reaching the end
Letters I've written, never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed, with these eyes before
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh, how I love you"
I have always love the modern take of the renaissance four beat musical forms...and this is a beautiful example of it and I have always love the poem at the end:
Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsetter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy's spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion
2. Beauty and the Beast
My darling lives in a world that is not mine
An old child misunderstood out of time
Timeless is the creature who is wise
And timeless is the prisoner in disguise
Oh who is the beauty who the beast
Would you die of grieving when I leave
Two children too blind to see
I would fall in your shadow I believe
My love is a man who’s not been tamed
Oh my love lives in a world of false pleasure and pain
We come from difference worlds we are the same my love
I never doubted your beauty I’ve changed
I never doubted your beauty I’ve changed
I love Stevie Nicks and listened to them since I was a little girl. This story/song delves into the two natures of men I have known and loved...Including the one I love now...
1. Stay By U2
Green light, seven eleven
You stop in for a pack of cigarettes
You don’t smoke, don’t even want to
I see you check your change
Dressed up like a car crash
The wheels are turning byt you’re upside down
You say when he hits you, you don’t mind
Because when he hurts you, you feel alive
Is that what it is?
Red lights, grey morning
You stumble out of a hole in the ground
A vampire or a victim
It depend’s on who’s around
You used to stay in to watch the adverts
You could lip synch to the talk shows
And if you look, you look through me
And if you talk it’s not to me
And when I touch you, you don’t feel a thing
If I could stay... then the night would give you up
Stay, and the day would keep it’s trust
Stay, and the night would be enough
Faraway, so close
Up with the static and the radio
With satelite television
You can go anywhere
Miami, new orleans, london, belfast and berlin
And if you listen I can’t call
And if you jump, you just might fall
And if you shout I’ll only hear you
If I could stay... then the night would give you up
Stay then the day would keep it’s trust
Stay with the demons you drowned
Stay with the spirit I found
Stay and the night would be enough
Three o’clock in the morning
It’s quiet and there’s no one around
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel runs to ground
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel hits the ground
Bono never sings a straight on love song...it is always "You and Me against the world and the world is winning" sort of love songs...and this is one of them....
"She runs through the streets, eyes painted red, under a black belly of clouds in the rain...." This song is so beautifully executed and so plaintively sung and it reminds me of my step daughter Amber.

Re: Fab Five Fridays
Okay, lets see what I can come up with....
Being I am British, I am afraid my list leans toward the Brits
1. Beatles- Good Morning Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
2. Cat Stevens- King of Trees
3. Cat Stevens- Morning has Broken
4. The Clash- London Calling (from my days knocking about with my mates)
5. The Who- Momma's got a Squeeze Box...I know, a very naughty song....
I know there can be only five...but I gotta break the rules
6. Van Morrison- Brown Eyed Girl...for my brown eyed girl

Re: Fab Five Fridays
People Are People-Depeche Mode
"I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand"
"People are people so why should it be
You and I should get along so awfully"
There's so much hate in this world, why can't we just all get along.
The Rose-Bette Midler
"Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed
It's the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun's love, in the spring
Becomes the rose"
I love the lyrics to this song
What Child is This?-Josh Groban
My favorite Christmas song.
Blister In The Sun -Violent Femmes
Reminds me of High School and hanging out with my friends.
Om Black Jim-Thåström
I love his voice. He was the lead singer from Ebba Grön ( a Swedish punk band from the late 70s ).

My five favorite scenes are:
1) Godric and Eric on the roof.
2) Bill walks into Merlotte's for the first time.
3) Viking flashback of Eric and his family.
4) Eric and Pam at Fangtasia where he tells Pam "I love you more when your cold and heartless."
5) Eric ripping Royce apart.

Re: Fab Five Fridays
Oh my!! *falls apart*
I don't think I can answer with just 5.
IN no particular order tho I guess if I had to it might look something like this.
1) Godric/ Eric/ Sookie on the rooftop.
2) The whole courtship of Sookie by Bill when Gran was still alive. Especially the scene where she runs to him in her nightgown.
3) Any scene with Eric. Not, not because I am an Eric wife, but because I really enjoy seeing the layers reveal. He is very complex.
4) Any scene with Pam or Lafayette in them. I always know there are gonna be some great lines spoken!
5) Jessica scenes, but probably the one where Bill told her she had to leave and she refused. It was nice seeing her stand up to him, make him be the Maker he is, and also it was a really great moment of both of them sharing deep pain.
