S1 Blue-Ray DVD Special Features Disc 5

DISC 5

The Blu-Ray version of Season 1 TruBlood contains a Special Features bonus not available on the other version. This feature contains some very interesting information, such as vampire biographies, miscellaneous tidbits, and hints of things to come. It is presented here for your enjoyment.

In order to provide a context and clarification for the information, the pertinent scene is explained in parentheses. In hindsight, many of the hints serve as foreshadowing for future episodes.

EPISODE 11, “To Love is to Bury”

(After the party, Sam stays the night with Sookie to protect her from the attacker. They discuss her vision of the waitress being murdered.)
Hint: Have we seen or heard about any waitresses other than those at Merlotte’s?

(Before Merlotte’s opens, Lafayette sits on a bar stool painting his toe nails. On the TV above the bar he sees Senator David Finch, aka Duke, making a speech against vampire rights, claiming vampire blood turns young people into addicts and homosexuals.)
Hint: Note Lafayette painting his toes.

(Bill has made Jessica vampire, and she rises from the ground for the first time. He tries to school her in the ways of a mainstreaming vampire.)
Hint: Any vampire Maker is responsible for the initial welfare of the new vampire he or she makes.

(Jason and Amy vow to give up their V addictions after taking the last drops of Eddie’s blood. While they are sleeping, a figure walks quietly into Jason’s house and strangles Amy with his belt.)
Hint: Notice the killer’s work boots.

(Maryann Forrester bails Tara out of jail and offers her a place to live. As they leave the jail, Tara sees Maryann’s beautiful Jaguar convertible and is concerned she will get it dirty. Maryann tells her not to worry.)
Hint: What is Maryann hinting at when she says, “I get dirty, too”?

(At the police station, Bud and Andy question Jason about Amy’s murder. As they take him to a cell, a picture of Drew Marshall is transmitted over the FAX machine.)
Hint: Doesn’t that look like someone we know?

EPISODE 12, “You’ll be the Death of Me”

(Tara and Maryann have breakfast on the veranda, and Tara admires her new surroundings. Looking around at the evidence of Maryann’s lavish lifestyle, Tara says, “You aren’t just a social worker, are you?” To which Maryann replies, “I’m a lot of things, just like you.”)
Hint: When Maryann says she’s “a lot of things,” what is she alluding to?

(In her backyard, Maryann is sitting, in what appears to be yoga style, in a chair and facing a pig. She is vibrating, and the pig lets out a little squeal.)
Hint: Why is Maryann vibrating?

(Clearly irritated, Sam goes to his office, opens the safe, and stashes wads of cash into a large garbage bag.)
Hint: What is Sam doing with all that money?
