True Blood Wolves
"Working with live animals on set is a challenging task, but one that True Blood production doesn’t shy away from. The parts of the werewolves are not play by CGI generated wolves but by real North American Timber wolves (Grey wolves).
“I’ve been working with real wolves and I mean you don’t get to do that very often,” Stephen Moyer shared with MTV. “We’ve got real wolves in the show amazing. They’re beautiful and huge and wild and they feel like they’re the size of lions. It’s unbelievable.”
On set the nearly 200-pound animals are supervised by two trainers each, while a temporary fence separates them from most of the crew. Before appearing in scenes with the wolves, actors walk with, talk to and pet their furry costars under a trainer’s supervision.
Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolve Alcide, said to TV Guide that his wolf counterpart is Thunder. “He is the grumpiest wolf, kind of like Alcide.” He adds that Alcide has kind of lost his pack, he kind of is this dark, dark place.
To keep the grumpiness to a minimum, the trainers bring the wolves to set early to “pattern” them, showing them where to walk or run for a scene. But that doesn’t mean that they are obdedient. “They’re troublemakers” says Manganiello."

I was wondering how they were going to show the wolves! That is absolutely wonderful that they're using real timber wolves. Can't wait to see them!
