JK Rowling is considering more HP books. DO you think she has told the story? Is there room for more?

Personally, I would like to read about Harry's parents and the first war with Voldemort and the Death Eaters and back stories of Snape and all the others. We get just enough of their back story from the Harry books to know their motives but not a full picture. This would add at least as many tales as the Harry books and I think would open this fascinating world up far more.

I was one of those who resisted reading Harry Potter when it first came out...the first three books were out in paperback before I read my first Potter. I was mostly afraid it would be silly and immature like so much fantasy fiction for children (and adults) seem to be these days, too caught up in cliche and overworked formula for me to enjoy. But once I read that first Potter book, I was enchanted.

Rowling has a wonderful style I enjoy. It is literate and in the style of Charles Dickens, particularly in the giving of names. Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, Rubeus Hagrid, Sirius Black, their names tell us so much about the characters, just as Fagin and Pip and Oliver Twist and Ebeneezer Scrooge did for Dickens. And the underlying themes of endless friendship and self sacrifice and love beating all odds are the best and most uplifting of the themes embellished with magic. Who could ask for anything more.

And I could care less if they make any movies of the additional books. Really the books stand alone and would have been just fine without the movies. The movies have their own charm of course and there are some movies I like better than the others mainly because they were more able to capture the scope of the books better than others.

Books have no scope, they can be as fantastic as your imagination can create for you as you read the words. The director is always hampered by the limits of the human performance and the special effects technology and the willingness of the movie goer to sit patiently through an epic film...Keep it up Jo...I would buy your book...

What think ye?

I couldn't agree more! I also wouldn't mind reading a book or two about how Hogwarts is now that Harry's kids are attending :)
